About STC Southwestern Ontario Chapter

The STC Southwestern Ontario Chapter strives to promote technical communication, to educate and support members and students, and to reach out to the community:

Promote technical communication through general meetings, workshops, and through partnerships with other professional associations, we promote technical communication.

Educate and support members and students by providing many professional development opportunities, by recognizing excellence in technical communication through competitions and scholarships, we educate and support established communicators, people new to the profession, and students.

Reach out to the community through ties to universities and scholarships, and by coordinating volunteer opportunities with organizations, we reach out to our community.

Chapter Activities

The Southwestern Ontario chapter offers many opportunities to build your skills by volunteering for chapter and community activities. We also publish an award-winning monthly newsletter and sponsor a professional competition.

Employment

The chapter offers a Job Bank for members. Employment opportunities also appear in Society publications, bulletin board system, anonymous ftp sites, and World Wide Web sites.

Scholarships and Research Grants

Scholarships are awarded to full-time students to promote growth in the profession. STC also offers grants to advance the theory and practice of the arts and sciences of technical communication.

Continuing Education

Seminars and workshops are sponsored by the chapter to meet the specific needs of members. In the past, seminars have been held on topics such as writing better computer user documentation and building better on-line documents.
