Instructor: Neil Perlin

Neil has 31 years experience in technical communication, with 25 in training, consulting, and development for various online formats and tools including WinHelp, HTML Help, JavaHelp, WebHelp, RoboHelp, Flare, and many now known only in legend. Neil is a columnist for Intercom and the IEEE PCS journal, a frequent speaker for STC local chapters and regional and annual conferences, IEEE PCS, and other groups. He is a member of STC’s Boston chapter, started and ran the Boston chapter’s EDoc SIG from 1993 to 1996, created and manages the Beyond the Bleeding Edge stem at the STC’s annual conference, represented STC for the W3C (WorldWide Web Consortium) for three years in the early 2000s, and is an STC Associate Fellow (and named a Fellow for 2010).

Neil is Madcap-Certified for Flare and Mimic, and Adobe-Certified for RoboHelp and Captivate. He provides training, consulting, and development for online documentation and help, Flare, RoboHelp, Captivate, Mimic, XML, single-sourcing, and structured authoring through Hyper/Word Services of Tewksbury, MA, www.hyperword.com. Instructor: Bernard Aschwanden

Bernard Aschwanden is a recognized publishing technologies expert. He is an Adobe Certified Expert, a Certified Technical Trainer, and the author of numerous articles on xml-based publishing and single sourcing. He is the founder and President of Publishing Smarter.

In addition to his publishing background and speaking tours, Bernard teaches a variety of courses. These include XML, DITA, CMS tools and related technologies, best practices for structured authoring, content management, and tools such as FrameMaker and XMetaL. He also works with clients to convert legacy content, analyze documentation, review workflows, and identify best practices in technical communications.University of Waterloo, Room TBD.

Bernard is a senior member of the Society for Technical Communication and the immediate past President of the Toronto STC. He has helped hundreds of companies implement successful publishing solutions.
